This is one of my favourite-ever fabrics. It’s called Matters of the Heart by Kaye England for SSI, and I only have a tiny bit left.
I’m still making Puss in the Corner blocks for donation quilts, so I decided to use this pretty green and purple print as a theme for one of the sets.
It’s very bright and wild — even “loud”, although a young person might really like it. I could break up the colour riot with plain setting squares…
…but I’m not sure about using such large pieces of white-on-white fabric. That could be very difficult to keep clean!
I love Design Wall Monday. Always a puzzle to solve, and it’s so much fun!

Happy Quilting!

That is beautiful fabric. What did you use the rest on? I think that quilt will be very pretty. I asked my son what color of quilt his girlfriend would want. He said something with bright colors. So most young people love the bright colors.
I love the riot of color!
Love the colors, I would just forget the white squares and go with it all bright.
I’d leave out the white blocks. It’s fantastic without them and I agree about the keeping it clean worries.
I’d leave out the white blocks, too. The color is just perfect and any kid, of any age, will love it.
I used to have some of that great fabric too!
I love the “color riot”…it doesn’t need the white blocks!
Oh, good! I’m so glad that everyone likes the bright colours all together because I like that setting the best, too.
Vivian, I first used that fabric in a table runner for a friend’s birthday present, and I have used a little bit of the leftover fabric in almost every scrap quilt I’ve made since then. It’s like a little secret with myself, knowing it’s gone to so many different places.
Thank you all for your comments and opinions! Take care.
Puss in the Corner green and purple are great without the plain wow white. Sure someone will be very happy with such a beautiful quilt. This Monday my design wall has also blocks that will be donated. Let’s keep up the good work. Hugs – Ivani in Brazil
I really like the colors. Like others have said, I’d stick with brights. I’m also partial to using black with brights if I want to colors to really stand out.
Oh, one of my very favorite color combinations!!! LOVE IT! I would drop the large white squares, unless you want to do some fancy quilting with maybe a variegated thread. Or more of your focus fabric in the center of each white block. Will look forward to seeing this one all done.
BTW, I’m old and I LOVE brights like that – LOL!
The colors of the Puss in the Corner blocks look great. I love the green and purple together. I brought some colorful blocks to my not so LQS a while back to pick out a fabric for an alternate block. The owner advised me not to use wow or cow because it made the quilt look like it had “holes” in it (not literally of course, but from a design point).
Unless you plan on doing something fabulous in those empty blocks, I would go without them.
I like the blocks set without the white — I’m always really cautious about using white in donation quilts just because of the difficulty in keeping it clean!
Oh pretty!! I like it best without the white, let the color roll!!
Thank you very much for all of your comments and suggestions, everyone! This is great — it’s like having my very own quilt guild at my house.
I appreciate you all so much! Take care.
