I don’t usually make New Year’s resolutions. It seems like a good way to set myself up for failure, and I’ve already been down that road paved with good intentions too many times!
However, this year I noticed that several quilt bloggers that I follow have resolved to finish one UFO per month. That sounds so nice and like something I should do, too. After all, I am supposed to be in the business of finishing UFOs!
Here is my first UFO finish of the year, from my Flying Geese phase of 2003. I finished it on Saturday evening.
Here is what I started with on Wednesday morning when I pulled this project out of the UFO cupboard.
If I could work so fast this week, why can’t I work that fast every week?
Oh happy day, I get to count a finish in my stats!
Bought this week: 0
Bought year-to-date: 9.75 yards
Used this week: 4.25
Used year-to-date: 10.75
Used (net): 1 yard

Happy Quilting!

It’s a lovely quilt. Good job!

Love this quilt and the colors are my favorite. Nice you are finally getting it done.
It must feel good to have that lovely quilt out of the closet and somewhere you can enjoy it. The purples are beautiful.
I love this quilt. The colors are gorgeous. This is beyond my capability though. To many small pieces. Now pick the nest UFO to finis. While you are still hot.
Have a great day,
Beautiful quilt! Isn’t it amazing how they can sit in a box (or bag) for forever, then if you pull it out at the right time, it goes together like a breeze…
Good job. It is gorgeous.
Great job finishing the UFO! Wish I could discipline myself to do it too . . .
WOW It’s an impressive finish.
How lovely, did you use the same fabric in each rectangle? I love flying geese all though not sure if I’d feel the same way if I did this many!!!
Wow! I really like the look of your quilt. Very nice! I’m glad you finished it.
That’s a lot of geese! Must have been lots of work when you made them. Now they are all in a lovely quilt–aren’t you glad it’s finished?!!
Congrats on the finish. It is very pretty!
Why can we work faster sometimes? I wish it was just a little more consistent, too. Your geese are lovely! Love all those purples. BTW, I’ve finally ordered the pattern for my too good to cut quilt, that feels good.
What a pretty quilt! Congratulations on the finish.
Love the colors of your quilt. Congratulations on finishing your first UFO. I too am a big UFO buster (for the last 5 years). I started with about 100 and now I am starting this year with only 50. I’ve crossed off 2 since Jan. 1, 2010. It would be great to finish at least one a month. I’ll do it if YOU do it!!
) Keep up the good work. Dar in MO
What a great finish for you UFO. 2003, wow! It went from a stack of blocks to a finished flimsy in a hurry. Every time I get a bit of momentum and start finishing things off I wonder why I can’t do that all the time. Glad it isn’t just me
