My husband said, “you’re supposed to be finishing things!” When I was looking for fabrics for Judy’s Quilt-Along, I found several (actually five) more UFO’s in a big plastic storage box. They looked so tempting — I just had to pull them out and work on each one for a little while. I feel like I am going down the buffet line at a UFO banquet — just have to try a little bit of this, and a tiny bit of that, and maybe some of that, too.
Oh, dear, I can see that I still have a long way to go before I am a reformed character in the UFO department. 😉
I’m amazed at how many blocks I have made. Stacks and stacks. Some of them I don’t even remember working on, although I always remember the fabrics. Making blocks is always my favourite part of the quilt-making process. Assembling blocks into tops is okay, maybe a bit tedious sometimes, but doing the quilting has always frightened me because I think my quilting skills are rubbish. However, after my “big quilt” experience at Christmas-time, I think my future quilts will be much easier, at least by comparison! My skills are definitely growing and improving.
Having Internet resources has made all the difference. I have learned so much from Bonnie Hunter, Mary Johnson, and Judy Laquidara, and from the online groups I belong to — A Pocket Full of Mysteries, Carol Doak Quilting List, HeartStrings, Stashbuster, and Quilting on a Budget. I read every post on every list, and it’s just amazing how much you can learn from every person who contributes an opinion or an experience, or shares a photo or a pattern.
I also read lots of other quilters’ blogs and have been so inspired by the beautiful work I have seen there, and greatly cheered by enthusiastic comments I have received from others who visit me. So, maybe my reformation from a serial UFO queen is coming along slowly… but I am having so much fun!
Happy Sewing!
Oh you made me LOL…

I was looking for some florals in my stash tonight and found all kinds of things as I rummaged through drawers and bins and boxes… banquet indeed!
I loved Judy’s quilt – I just don’t have time for another project… but I do love what you’ve picked out so I’ll be watching along.
UFO Banquet… LOL! I love it!
I’m glad I made you laugh, Howdy! Thanks for your lovely comments — you made me feel so good! Take care.
working on several projects at one time is the ONLY way I work! And yes, I have those blocks sitting in stacks waiting for me to come back and work on them. One month I entered TWO blocks lotteries just because I like to make the blocks–and I won them both! So I still have enough blocks to make two twin size or a huge queen quilt. Yes, I should just set them together and finish them, but my favorite place to send quilts is QOV–and the blocks I won are PINK Lover’s Knots! LOL I will have to finish them into something eventually.
