Today I met with the coordinator of the Quilts of Valor-UK project and delivered the two quilt tops described in my blog on Sunday. The coordinator, Jean Morris, was very pleased with the quilts, and I felt so happy to help with such an important mission. We had a nice cup of coffee and a good long chat. It was lots of fun to meet another quilter in person, especially one as nice as Jean.
Here is a link to a newspaper story about her work, and a newspaper photo about the group’s first presentation.
For anyone interested in volunteering with Quilts of Valor-UK, Jean’s contact details can be found on the main Quilts of Valor website. I’m going to continue to make quilt tops for QOV-UK, and I’ve already started pulling fabrics for my next project!
Happy Sewing!
Huges congrats to you on getting 4 tops ready for QOV. Must have been great to meet Jean and had over the 2 for the UK. Lovely quilts for a great cause 🙂
Hi Helen, thank you for the nice comments! You know I’ve been looking for a UK group to sew for, and it really was a thrill to meet Jean and to participate in such a worthwhile project.
Hi, I am so glad to have found your blog through the Heartstrings List, I am new to all of this – and especially blogging, but I have just started my first Soldiers Quilt for UK soldiers returning to UK for rehab. I am very grateful for the opportunity to do such a “little” thing – though I am not very accomplished at making quilts. Please have a peak at my new blog (a Christmas present from my son) the URL is

Thank you for inspiration. Blessings, Val
