I was very excited to see batik fabrics on Judy’s blog earlier this week because I have a batik project of my own to show for Design Wall Monday.
This is one of the Easter quilts I am working to finish for our family visit next month. It’s a two-rail fence design, with 2.5 inch strips sewed together and then cut into 4.5 inch squares.
I remember buying some of this fabric, but I’m not sure where the rest of it came from — possibly from a Fat Quarter club about 10 years ago? Some of the colours are a bit dark and wouldn’t be my first choice to buy, but when they are paired with cheerful brights, I think they look very nice!

Happy Quilting!
How lovely they will be – I’m just contemplating a New York Beauties quilt in batik – going to trawl the net to see if there are enough colours that I like and go from there – I have a month to make up my mind – which is not nearly enough Libran time!!!
I love batiks too! and your is going to be great-hope to see if in the future!
I love the colors and you are right, even with the darks the bright ones still sparkle.
I have collected almost as much in my batik stash as in my non-batik stash! Love your project!
That is the beauty of batiks!! they go with EVERYTHING!!!! And add thier own sparkle to a project.
One of my first quilts used these fabrics along with ‘normal’ fabrics and I love it!!! It was a kit – and I thought “really???” about combining them, the regular cotton and the very pretty batiks, but oh, yeah, beautiful!!!
I like the project you are doing!!! Great wall post today!!
That’s going to be so pretty. I’ll be watching for a completed top soon. Those are small rails and it is going to be so pretty!
I love the little batik rails. The smaller the better in scrap quilts. Can’t wait to see this finished.
They are beautiful. I love batik fabrics, what a pit it’s so hard to find them here. I’ll be looking forward to see it finished.
Have a happy quilting week. – Ivani in Brazil
I’ve got batiks on my design wall, too! I just love batiks and how rich the fabrics are 🙂
I love two rail fence quilts and finished a top not so long ago with leftovers from my Green/Black/White Boxed squares.
I love the batiks you used in the this block. I too have just pieced together a top with batiks and was a little scared of how they would look together but have to say they work.
