Quilters use several terms to describe abandoned or forgotten projects. UFOs — Unfinished Objects. PIGS – Projects in Grocery Sacks. At what point does a WIP (Work in Progress) become a UFO?

Sometimes we put something aside if we make a mistake and feel frustrated. Or get bored with the fabric or pattern, or disappointed if it’s ugly, or the colours don’t go well together, or the pattern doesn’t work with the fabric. Maybe the pattern is too difficult for our skill level. Maybe we’ve just seen an exciting new pattern or a lovely fabric that shouts to us: “stop what you’re doing and sew me now!”

Sometimes sewing projects get packed away when we need to tidy the house when company is coming over. Out of sight, out of mind. We forget what we were working on. Or, we’ve put it away so well that we can’t find it again.

I have so many unfinished projects that I am afraid to count them. I feel guilty about this. Now is the time to do something about it. Time to get busy.
