This week, my step-daughter came over for dinner and told me about a quilt she has started making.  It’s her first large project, and I am really excited for her! This is the young woman who received the turquoise quilt for her birthday in March.

She prefers hand-sewing to using a sewing machine, so she is making a Grandmother’s Flower Garden by the English paper piecing method.  She found free hexagon templates and illustrated instructions at Cia’s Palette.

She wants to use all-plaid focus fabrics and asked me where she could find some.  We talked about recycling clothing, and then she chose 9 fat quarters out of my stash to take home with her.  That’s quick and easy stash-busting!  😉

I decided to keep the grey corduroy gift fabric in my Stash Report totals, as I’ve thought of a project for my personal use, as well as making donation gifts.   If I count gift fabric received, then surely I can count gift fabric given?  If so, that’s 2.25 yards out this week!  Here are my totals:

Fabric in this week:  0
Fabric in year-to-date:  46 yards
Fabric out this week:  2.25 yards
Fabric out year-to-date:  26.75 yards
Used (net):  -19.25 yards

Our oldest daughter, the one who received the Turquoise Scraps quilt for her birthday, has brought me the most beautiful Mother’s Day card!

She cut pictures out of magazines and recreated the Buttonberry (Note: Link Updated 30-8-11) block that I used for her turquoise birthday quilt and also for her queen-size black, red and white quilt.

This is the most unique and personalised card I have ever received, and I was so pleased that I just wanted to share it!  🙂
